CCAR Recovery Coach Academy
UPCOMING TRAINING The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy, Peer Support Training is a 5-day intensive training which focuses on providing each participant with the knowledge and skills needed to guide, support, encourage and sustain a persons long-term recovery from any form of addiction behaviors. Included in your approved curriculum originating and created by Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) are objectives such as; roles and functions of a recovery coach, core values & guiding principles of recovery, skills to enhance relationships, discovering attitudes around self-disclosure; understanding the dimensions of recovery & recovery coaching; the stages of recovery, ethical & boundary issues, trauma informed care, and the awareness of culture, power & privilege. This training is approved by MABPCB for 30 CEU's

CCAR Ethical Considerations
Participants in this training will:
Understand what ethics are and why ethics are so important when performing Recovery Coach Services; Learn how to stay in your lane as a recovery coach; Understand the decision making process; Develop guidelines for making ethical decisions; Apply the new learning to your every day work as a Recovery Coach.
Must Attend ALL 3 Days: This training is approved by MABPCB for 16 CEUs in the Ethics domain.
CCAR Recovery Coaching & Professionalism
Recovery Coaching & Professionalism Course, a 12-hour curriculum, will prepare Recovery Coaches in 10 characteristics commonly associated with professionalism: accountability, appearance, etiquette, organizational skills, communication, ethics and boundaries, reliability, demeanor, maintaining poise, and competence. Participants who complete this training will Define professionalism as it pertains to recovery coaching Learn about and develop the various characteristics that a professional possesses Understand their personal accountability within their role as recovery coaches Learn the importance of the concept “stay in their lane” when it comes to working in a large system, like a hospital, court and/or treatment system Reexamine the roles of a recovery coach in order to maintain good boundaries when working in professional settings Have opportunities to practice and demonstrate newly acquired skills. This training is approved by MABPCB for 12 CEUs in the Ethics domain

What is Trauma Informed Cosmetology?
The organization promotes Trauma-Informed Cosmetology, which integrates knowledge about trauma into all aspects of cosmetology training. This approach involves recognizing signs and symptoms of trauma, responding effectively, and implementing trauma-informed policies, procedures, and practices to minimize re-traumatization. The Trauma-Informed Cosmetology program aims to provide survivors with a career path that goes beyond education, offering a solid foundation in both cosmetology skills and trauma-informed care. By supporting this cause, individuals can contribute to empowering survivors with the tools, education, and understanding needed to overcome their past traumas and build a secure future.
